What a pregnancy....but it was all worth it. On Tuesday, May 31st at 10:22, our beautiful little girl was born. I woke up that morning and took the kids to McDonalds to eat breakfast and play with Nanny, Anji, Krista, Ben, and Rome. I was a little sad knowing that soon my attention would have to be split 3 ways instead of just 2....but super excited anyhow. I spent the rest of the day at home cleaning and preparing for my induction. I called the hospital around 3 pm to see if they had room for me...they said no, they would call me around 4 to let me know if they have the room. They called me at 4:30 and said they would be ready for me at 5:30pm. This was perfect...Travis could finish his late night with patients and be there in time for my epidural. So, I dropped Tanner and SOphie off at Grandma's and drove to town. I made a quick stop at Walgreens to buy some diaper wipes that were on sale...a lady asked me when I was due...and I chuckled and said in about 10 minutes....she looked at me weird...so I told her I was on my way to get induced. It was weird walking into the hospital by myself. I'm used to getting induced early in the morning and delivering in the late afternoon....this time I was getting induced in the evening...I figured I would deliver her sometime early morning. I got to my room and got all situated. They started the IV..then pitocin....which I had been having contractions very close together anyway all weekend...but just not strong enough. Then my mom came up to stay with me until Travis got there. My mom and I got the giggles so bad. I didnt' know if the laughing was hurting me worse or the contractions...but wheew the contractions were rough! Travis got to the room around 8pm...so my mom left to take care of our kids. The hospital mean time was getting super busy...so busy I had a nurse tell me I was one lucky gal to be here for an induction...because they are all out of rooms and people in the waiting room...I think if I hadn't already been hooked up to pit..they would have sent me home. Around 9:15 the Anethesiologist came in for my epidural. It was having a hard time kicking in...I could still feel a ton of pressure during my contractions. Around 9:45 it finally kicked in and I felt a little relief...oh backup...before my epidural my doctor broke my water....which was discolored...and meant that baby girl had been pooping inside me...so they planned to have respitory therapy in my delivery...I didnt' know it was such a scary thing. Anyway back to the epidural kicking in. I sat back around 10 pm and started watching some bball with Travis and looked and said...its going to be a long night...so i am going to get some rest! I quickly left a post on facebook around 10pm and texted my dad...and then I started feeling a lot of pressure....I told Travis that i don't think I took the epidural very good. Around 10:10 my nurse and doctor came in to check me...I told them that around 9:45 I was dilated to a 5....Well he checked me and said okay lets get this baby here. I thought he was joking....He said you are at a 10....don't push at all. They called nICU and respitory therapy in and turned on all the lights...I was still thinking it is happening too fast... I just told my mom about 15 minutes prior that I bet she will be here arond 6 am in the morning. Well....the i pushed 1 time and he had me stop so he could suction out her mouth...and then I delivered her. She started to cry...what a dollie girl! I called my mom and told her that baby girl is here....she said no way...so i put the phone so she could hear her cry...Travis parents had just barely left the hospital, but turned around and came back in to see her! She was such a beautiful baby! We didn't have her name picked out yet...but had it narrowed down to...Kate, Sienna, and Kylie. I immediatly knew she wasnt Kylie...I was voting for Sienna...but deep down inside I knew she was a Kate. I was determined to make her Sienna! Needless to say we took votes at the hospital....went home still not having her named. I would stay up at night when I should have been sleeping thinking about her name. Finally Sunday night I told Travis he was not going to bed until she was named. So we named her.....Sienna May Baldwin.....about 15 minutes later Travis jumped out of bed and said..."I'm sorry but she is not Sienna....she is Kate...Kate Shanda" So we finally named our Sweet Baby girl...Kate Shanda Baldwin! I love her so much. She is such a precious little baby.
